Leading the Way,

in All Things BDA

As a developer, general contractor, construction project manager, or building owner, you may know that many jurisdictions now require National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code® (NFPA 72®)- or International Fire Code (IFC)-compliant public safety and emergency responder radio coverage (ERRC). This is a prerequisite for getting an occupancy permit from the local AHJ/Fire Code Official in most cases.

However, the intricacies of how coverage is tested requires in depth technical knowledge of not merely the codes and standards but the local emergency responder radio network itself. Through the use of calibrated radio frequency measurement instruments coverage is tested throughout the building to verify minimum signal strength thresholds are met.

Based on the testing survey results, if needed an enhancement solution can be designed, coordinated and commissioned into service. All while leaving the outside RF environment unaffected. This process can be complex and can vary greatly depending on the jurisdiction.

If you are in need of an emergency responder radio coverage survey (ERRCS) or you may even be confident that your building requires an emergency responder radio coverage enhancement solution (ERRCES) of some kind.
